Music program
Every student at the School attends specialist music lessons throughout their education. Our music teacher is with us 3 days a week (Wednesday through Friday).
The aims of the classroom music program are as follows:
- develop listening skills;
- promote in-tune singing;
- develop aural and visual memory;
- develop an aural and physical perception of beat and accent;
- develop an aural and visual perception of pitch;
- develop the ability to read and write using the conventions of music;
- develop the ability to perform music using voice and instruments;
- develop the confidence in group and solo performance and improvisation; and
- develop an understanding of the language of music.
Recorders are introduced to the students in the second half of year 3. The aim of using recorders in the music program is to:
- develop the children's co-ordination skills;
- develop the ability to read musical notation; and
- develop a sense of pleasure and accomplishment at being able to perform.
