Monitoring

The School's management sequence for student behaviour represents six stages of monitoring the level of behaviour for classroom, playground or out of class activities.

Management sequence for student behaviour

Level of behaviour Number of strikes Action Additional actions (SEU)
Level 1
Initial misbehaviour
Warning or 1 strike - strike recorded (if appropriate) detention issued (same day if possible)

- address behaviour through teacher intervention

- reinforce proactive strategies (refer to classroom management or playground plans)

- monitor behaviour.

Social skills program
Level 2
Continued misbehaviour
2 strikes - two strike warning issued

- class teacher informs parents

- reinforce appropriate consequences

- implement/review appropriate proactive/reactive strategies.

SEU teacher informs parents
Level 3 3 strikes - Administration informs parents and call for interview (letter sent)

- Gold Pass surrendered to Admin with loss of privileges (strikes can be earned back)

HOSE informs parents including:
- letter (copy to Admin)
- Phone call
- SEU supervision during recesses for 3 days
- placed in social skills program if not already there

Level 4
Continued misbehaviour
4 strikes - Admin informs parents (letter sent)

- 3 day detention

- IMP developed with behaviour contract

- appointment with parents and student discuss contract

- weekly accountability meeting with parents, students and Admin

- cluster behaviour teacher involvement

- advise Social Justice Committee

3 day detention no social contact

Develop IMP with behaviour contract or Review IEP, modifications to social skills program indicent reports for each additional misdemeanour

Level 5 5 strikes - 1 week detention or equiv in after school detention

- letter sent to inform parents of steps before suspension

- parent interview with Admin

- goal setting with student and revisiting strategies in IMP (CALM ROOM)

- continue involvement of cluster behaviour management teacher

Detention during recesses in SEU for remainder of term
Level 6
Continued misbehaviour
6 strikes - consideration for suspension (internal or external at discression of Principal) Action determined by severity of incidents and impact on learning of self and others

Placed in SEU for 1 week (NO social contact)
