State test results for years 3, 5 and 7

Each year in August, students across the state in years 3, 5 and 7 participate in a " point in time test" in Numeracy and Literacy. Areas tested in Numeracy include; Number, Measurement, Chance and Data and Space. Areas tested in Literacy include; Reading, Spelling, and Writing. Data from these tests is made available to schools in a variety of formats including whole school, class and individual results. Whole school data is compared against that of " Like Schools " the State average and the National Benchmarks . Like schools are those which are categorized as having similar characteristics to our school. Tables providing a summary of these results are presented below. It should be remembered that this is a "point in time test" and individual student's results need to be viewed in conjunction with the class teacher's assessment of the student as they track development and progress on a day to day basis. This is often a more accurate and ongoing view of each student's performance and potential for individual improvement.

The results of these state-wide tests are analysed by the school each year in order to identify areas which may need further investigation in terms of teaching practice. Once again, this is done in the context of our school community and the extensive programs this school offers to address emerging needs of students.
